Esports fans are getting excited about the Toronto Ultra Call of Duty Major V Tournament that will take place from 25 May to 28 May. This comes on the back of last month's Major IV tournament that took place without spectators.
That event saw the Los Angeles Thieves steal a 4-2 win from OpTic Texas, and we're very keen to see how Toronto Ultra will fare in Major V. Qualifiers are already underway, so read on and we'll tell you what to expect from the tournament weekend itself.
Where to Bet on the Major V Tournament
What is Call of Duty?
For the benefit of readers who aren't familiar with Call of Duty, we should probably bring you up to speed by telling you that it's a video game series that first appeared in 2003.
COD games have been played competitively from the beginning, but it wasn't until 2020 that the Call of Duty League — the professional esports league for the video game — was founded.
About the CDL Major V Tournament
The Major V tournament is the fifth of 5 Majors that will take place in the 2023 Call of Duty League (CDL) season. For those of you who intend to watch the action as it unfolds, here are the essential details.
How Does the Call of Duty League Work?
The Call of Duty League sees 12 teams compete each year to determine which will be crowned champions. Each Major tournament comprises a group phase and a Major.
The group phase, which is also referred to as qualifying, has participating teams play to see which 8 will proceed to the Major. The Major is then played over a long weekend as an elimination tournament.
Each Major tournament offers $500,000 in prize money, with the winning team taking home $200,000 and progressively smaller prizes being awarded to the runners-up.
The season then culminates in a Championship Weekend to determine the winner of the title and a share of a seven-figure purse.
How Toronto Ultra Have Fared So Far
Toronto Ultra is a professional esports team established in 2019 that has been part of the Call of Duty League since 2020.
The team won Major II back in 2021, and they've also done very well this season, beating hosts OpTic Texas 4-2 to win Major III in March.
That was a great result but let's hope that the best is yet to come!
Who Will Win Major V?
Here at CasinoGuide, we're rooting for Toronto Ultra to fare as well in the Major V tournament as they did in Major II earlier this year. But who do you think will win?
Whatever team you choose to side with, you'll find a full range of betting markets available at the sportsbooks listed earlier, so good luck with your selections and enjoy the tournament!
