Our main focus here at CasinoGuide HQ is on bringing you casino news and reviews, but we're massively excited by the fact that the Canadian soccer team has qualified for the World Cup. The first group stage matches for Qatar 2022 get underway later this month, and we'll be supporting Canada all the way. That means we'll also be highlighting casino games, promotions and sportsbook offers that tie in well with the competition as it unfolds to give you the best news, deals and soccer entertainment to enjoy all the action.

Team Canada's Quest for Qatar
The excitement that we and millions of other Canadians are experiencing following Canada's qualification for the World Cup is well warranted. As any soccer fan will be happy to tell you, our national team doesn't often get to participate in this particular tournament. In fact, Canada's men's team has qualified for the World Cup just once before.
That previous qualification was for the 1986 FIFA World Cup tournament, which was hosted by Mexico. Unfortunately, we didn't fare too well back then, and we lost all three of our Group C matches, to France, Hungary and the Soviet Union. Even so, the simple fact that we had qualified to contend for the biggest trophy in soccer was something that excited the whole nation.
When is Canada Playing in the World Cup?
Canadian soccer fans have waited 36 years for another shot at the World Cup, but the wait is now over. The team has qualified for Qatar 2022 and will be facing Belgium, Morocco and Croatia in Group F, as illustrated below:
If Canada secures the results needed to earn a first or second place finish in this group of four, the Reds will progress to the knockout stage and play on the 5th or 6th December. From there, every match will see Canada progress further into the tournament, and possibly all the way to the 2022 FIFA World Cup Final which is scheduled to take place on Sunday 18 December.
Three Soccer Slots to Warm Up With
We can't wait until kick-off in Canada's first Group F match against Belgium on 23 November, and we're keeping everything crossed for a winning result. If you're as keen as we are, you could consider passing the time in the same way we are, and that's by playing some of our favourite soccer slots. Here is a hat-trick of recommended games to warm up with:
Spinions Game Day (Quickspin)
Released just a few weeks ago by Quickspin, this Spinions Game Day slot emphasizes the fun side of soccer. Its five reels are transparent so that you have a good aerial view of the pitch below, and symbols include a whistle, goalie gloves, football boots, and a golden football trophy. Land three trophies or take advantage of the Buy Bonus option to get 10 free spins, with more free spins triggerable. This is a great game if you just want something fun to play, and the upbeat soundtrack during the special feature is a real mood lifter.
Football Fortunes (RTG)
This is a much more serious soccer slot that was released in the summer of 2019 by RTG. Launch the title and you can't fail to be impressed by the gorgeous rendering of the soccer ball against the stadium background. This slot has a rock soundtrack and allows you to play as one of two different teams. Each team has its own Free Spins mode that can be triggered. Play in Rhino mode and you'll need three or more scatter symbols, but if you play in Fortune mode the free spins can be activated at the end of any regular spin of the reels.
Book of Champions (Spinomenal)
Those of you who happen to be fans of the ever-popular "book of" genre will be pleased to hear that Spinomenal released a slot called Book of Champions in 2021. This is a five-reel game with ten pay lines, and of the three highlighted here, it's arguably the one with the best "World Cup" atmosphere. Land three or more Book of Champions symbols and you'll get 10 free spins with a special expanding symbol in play.
